What Is Home Health Screening?
At ATA Medical, we bring health screening to you. Our home health screening service allows you to
complete essential medical tests from the comfort of your own home, with a trained medical
professional visiting your location to conduct blood
tests, health measurements, and vaccinations.
If you are a busy individual, have a family to care for, or have mobility concerns, this service
may be suitable for you.
Home Health Screening Process
What Are the Benefits of Home Health Screening?
Home health screening offers convenience, privacy, and time
savings. You avoid travel and waiting times at clinics. It’s ideal for
those who want preventive care in a familiar environment, elderly individuals, or those with tight
schedules. It also allows group testing (e.g., for families or employees) in one
visit.
Should you prefer to do your health screening in our clinics instead, you can visit us at either ourTanjong Pagar,
Orchard, Jurong or Novena clinic. View our executive health
screening packages for a comprehensive in-clinic experience.
Fasting Requirements for Home Health Screening
Fasting is required for the Vital and Essential packages but not mandatory for the Core, Deluxe and Premier packages. Fasting before a blood test prevents recent food intake from elevating your glucose and cholesterol readings for certain tests, which ensures more accurate baseline results.
Packages That Require Fasting
The Vital and Essential packages require fasting because they use
a fasting blood glucose
test to screen for diabetes. These packages do not include HbA1c testing, so an elevated
glucose reading from a recent meal could produce a misleading result.
To prepare for your appointment:
- Fast for at least 8 hours beforehand (plain water only)
- Avoid all food, coffee, tea, juice, sweets, and chewing gum
- Continue all regular medications as usual, including those for blood pressure, diabetes, and blood thinning
Packages That Do Not Require Fasting
The Core, Deluxe, and Premier packages include the HbA1c test, which estimates your average blood sugar over the previous three months by measuring glucose bound to your red blood cells. Because HbA1c reflects a three-month window rather than a single point in time, a fasting glucose reading is not necessary for these packages.
Cholesterol and Triglyceride Screening
Based on Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, fasting is not required for cholesterol testing. However, do take note of the following:
- Avoid alcohol and fatty meals 12 hours before your screening, as they can elevate triglyceride levels and affect your LDL calculation.
- If you are known to have high cholesterol or high triglycerides, we recommend fasting for at least 8 hours regardless of your package to ensure the most accurate lipid profile.
