What Should I Do Before My Health Screening?

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before your screening, unless otherwise instructed.
  • Fasting: Fast only if undergoing specific tests like the Ace ($76*), Elite ($130*), Ultrasound Liver, or Ultrasound Abdomen.
  • Menstruating: Ideally, schedule your screening around 10-14 days after the start of your last period. Otherwise, please inform us if you are menstruating. Please be aware that menstruation can affect certain tests, like the CA125 tumor marker.
  • Avoid Certain Drinks: Do not consume coffee, alcohol, soft drinks, milk, carbonated drinks, and fruit juices for 8 - 12 hours before your blood test.
  • Attend Only if Well: Do not attend the screening if you are feeling unwell, as this can affect test results.
  • Medication Intake: Continue taking your regular medications unless advised otherwise.

Do I Need To Fast Before My Health Screening?

In most cases, fasting is not required for a basic health screening. However, fasting may be necessary for certain tests, such as:

Is Fasting Required for a Full Body Check-Up?

Fasting is not required for most standard tests included in a full body check-up. However, if you are opting for specific tests such as the Ace ($76*), Elite ($130*), or procedures like Ultrasound Liver and Ultrasound Abdomen, fasting is necessary. Fasting may also be required for certain Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Please talk to our friendly staff if you are unsure.

If I Am Menstruating, Can I Undergo My Health Screening?

Please notify our staff if you are menstruating on the day of your health screening. It is recommended to schedule your appointment for 10-14 days after the start of your last period. Although you can proceed with the screening as planned, be aware that menstruation may influence the results of the CA125 tumor marker and may also cause the presence of blood in the urine or stool.

Can I Drink Coffee Before My Screening?

It is best to avoid coffee, alcohol, soft drinks, milk, carbonated drinks, and fruit juices for 8 - 12 hours before the blood test, as these can introduce stimulants and excessive energy that may skew the test results. Consider reducing the intake of greasy and fried foods a day or two before the test.

Can You Brush Your Teeth Before a Blood Test?

What Do You Wear to a Medical Screening?

It is advisable to wear a loose and comfortable two-piece outfit and to avoid wearing jewellery. Please also bring and wear your spectacles if you use them. If you are undergoing the treadmill test, please bring appropriate sports attire and running shoes.

Can I Go for a Health Screening When Sick?

It is best to avoid attending the screening if you are feeling unwell, as illness can affect the results.

Can I Still Take Medication Before My Health Screening?

You may continue taking your regular medications, including those for blood pressure, diabetes, and blood thinning, unless instructed otherwise by the clinic.

What Should I Bring to My Health Screening?

If you are undergoing any scans such as ultrasound, mammograms, CT scans, please bring any past imaging reports. This is important as our staff may require them. Please also bring all your past imaging and health reports (or anything of relevance) during your post screening review (if any) with our doctor. Soft copy is acceptable.
