Health screening involves conducting tests to find diseases or conditions in individuals who show no symptoms. The goal is to detect illnesses early, improving the chances of successful treatment. By identifying health issues sooner, we can achieve better outcomes and potentially lower treatment costs. Most health screenings include comprehensive blood tests to evaluate various aspects of your health.

It is generally advised to undergo routine screenings for conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol once every one to three years¹. The frequency of health screenings depends on one's age, health history, and specific risk factors. For those with higher risks, more frequent screenings may be recommended to ensure early detection and management.

On average, for Ace ($76) to Crown ($381) package, it takes between 30 and 60 minutes. For our Royal ($667) package and above, it may take between 2 and 3 hours.

Fasting is required for Ace, Elite, and Marvel and above packages. Noble, Crown, Crown+, Royal, and Jewel packages do not require fasting unless Ultrasound Abdomen or Ultrasound Liver is selected. Eating before certain blood tests and ultrasound scans can affect your results, leading to inaccurate readings.

Packages and Tests That Require Fasting

The Ace ($76) and Elite ($130) packages rely on a fasting blood glucose test to screen for diabetes. Since these packages do not include HbA1c testing, food consumed before your appointment can artificially raise your glucose reading and produce an unreliable result.

Marvel and above packages require fasting because they include Ultrasound Abdomen, which needs the organs to be clearly visualised without interference from digestion.

If your package requires fasting:

• Do not eat or drink anything other than plain water for at least 8 hours before your appointment
• Avoid coffee, tea, juice, sweets, and chewing gum during the fasting period
• Take all regular medications as prescribed, including those for blood pressure, diabetes, and blood thinning, unless your doctor has advised otherwise

Packages That May Require Fasting

The Noble, Crown, Crown+, Royal, and Jewel packages include HbA1c testing, which estimates your average blood sugar over the preceding three months rather than at a single point in time. A fasting glucose reading is therefore not needed.

However, if you add Ultrasound Abdomen or Ultrasound Liver to any of these packages, fasting for at least 8 hours is required so the organs can be clearly visualised.

Cholesterol and Triglyceride Screening

Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines do not require fasting for cholesterol testing. However, please note the following:

• Avoid alcohol and fatty meals for 12 hours before your screening, as these can raise triglyceride levels and skew your LDL calculation.
• Let us know if you have a history of high cholesterol or high triglycerides, as we may advise fasting for at least 8 hours regardless of your package for the most accurate lipid profile.

Please notify our staff if you are menstruating on the day of your health screening. It is recommended to schedule your appointment for 10-14 days after the start of your last period. Although you can proceed with the screening as planned, be aware that menstruation may affect the results of the CA125 tumor marker and may also cause the presence of blood in the urine or stool.
