• Adults 18 years old and above with chronic health issues or those with compromised immune systems such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and chronic liver or kidney disease
• Individuals with specific medical conditions like cochlear implants or abnormal spleen functions

Before receiving the pneumococcal vaccine, disclose to your healthcare provider if you:

• Have any allergies related to the vaccine's contents or previous doses of the pneumococcal vaccine
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

The vaccine is administered via muscle injection.

Common post-vaccination symptoms include:

• Feeling faint. You may be advised to sit for 15 minutes post-vaccination as a precautionary measure
• Injection site reactions such as soreness, redness, swelling
• Mild headaches, body aches, fatigue, fever

These are typically temporary and should go away within a few days. Paracetamol can be taken for relief.

These reactions may be rare, but if you experience any of these, please seek immediate medical advice. These symptoms are:

• Facial swelling, including the eyes, lips, or tongue
• Breathing difficulties
• Widespread itchy rashes
