The QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus) test is a blood test that detects infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB).

TB remains a significant global health concern, and detecting an infection early allows treatment to start before it spreads to others. The sample is analysed in a laboratory and, unlike the older skin test, the result is not affected by a previous Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination.

The test is often required for employment, school enrolment and immigration checks, and it may also be included in a routine health screening.

There is no fasting or any special preparation required.

A blood sample is collected at our clinic and then sent to the laboratory for analysis.
