Yellow Fever Vaccine in Singapore (2024)

Yellow Fever Vaccine in Singapore (2024)

Yellow fever, a disease spread by daytime-active mosquitoes, remains a concern in various regions. As of 2023, this disease is present or endemic in 34 African countries and 13 nations across Central and South America.

Additionally, as Singapore is free from yellow fever, there are specific regulations in place to mitigate the risk of yellow fever's introduction and spread in Singapore. All travellers, including Singaporean residents, with travel history to countries with risk of yellow fever transmission must possess a valid vaccination certificate against yellow fever in the six days prior to arrival in Singapore. This certificate needs to be presented to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at the immigration counter upon arrival in Singapore.

When to Get Vaccinated Against Yellow Fever?

The best time to get vaccinated is at least 10 days before travel. This allows the vaccine time to take effect and provide protection against the virus. Our clinic will issue you the International Certificate of Vaccination, which is recognized internationally.

How Long Does the Yellow Fever Vaccine Last?

The Yellow Fever Vaccine is known for its long-lasting protection. A single dose provides life-long protection for most people. However, a booster dose may be required for certain individuals, such as those travelling to a country with a higher risk of transmission.

What Are the Side Effects of the Yellow Vaccine Fever?

Typically, reactions to the yellow fever vaccine are minor, such as headaches, muscle pains, and slight fevers. However, on rare occasions, some individuals may experience serious, potentially life-threatening responses to the vaccine. These can include severe allergic reactions, which might involve difficulty in breathing or swallowing. Please seek immediate medical attention if any severe reactions occur.

Why Are Vaccinations Important?

Vaccinations offer significant individual benefits by boosting the immune system's ability to fight off specific infectious diseases. They reduce the risk of contracting serious illnesses, leading to fewer medical visits and a lower chance of hospitalization.

By staying up-to-date with vaccinations, individuals can also enjoy a greater sense of well-being and freedom to engage in various social activities, knowing they are protected against contagious diseases.
