What Is the NutriReady DNA Test?
The NutriReady DNA Test is a genetic screening test that
uses a simple cheek swab to analyse how your DNA influences your nutrition, metabolism, and
food sensitivities.
It looks at specific genetic markers linked to things like vitamin absorption, food intolerances
(such as lactose or gluten), and how your body processes fats and carbohydrates.
This test provides personalised insights into your nutritional needs, helping you understand what
types of food may benefit you more, what to limit, and how your genes might influence weight management or
eating patterns.
What Does the NutriReady DNA Test Measure?
The NutriReady DNA Test examines genetic markers that affect how your body responds to food, nutrients, and eating patterns. It provides insights in the following areas:
Macronutrient Metabolism
How your body breaks down and uses carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
Food Intolerances
Possible sensitivities to lactose, gluten, caffeine, and how your body processes alcohol.
Appetite and Eating Behaviours
Traits that influence hunger, cravings, and how full you feel after eating.
Weight-Related Traits
How your genes may affect your weight regulation, fat storage, and body mass index (BMI).
Who Should Consider the NutriReady DNA Test?
The NutriReady DNA Test may be beneficial for individuals who wish to make informed, evidence-based decisions about their diet and health. It may be particularly relevant for:
- Individuals with digestive issues or fatigue who are experiencing unexplained symptoms or discomfort related to food.
- People managing weight or chronic conditions such as metabolic disorders, diabetes, high cholesterol, or cardiovascular health concerns.
- Athletes and fitness enthusiasts looking to optimise performance and recovery.
- Individuals with a family history of deficiencies or intolerances such as lactose intolerance, gluten sensitivity, or vitamin-related issues.
- Mothers and expecting mothers who need nutritional support during prenatal, neonatal, or postnatal stages.
- Those focused on preventive health and immunity and seeking long-term wellness strategies or immune system support.
How Does the NutriReady DNA Testing Process Work?
NutriReady DNA testing analyses a saliva sample to examine over 100 gene variants related to
nutrition, metabolism, and dietary traits.
The process involves three simple steps:
Sample Collection
A test kit will be provided which can be collected from our clinic. No consultation is required at the time of collection. Follow the instructions provided in the kit to complete the cheek swab sample at home, then return the sample to us.
Laboratory Analysis
Your sample is sent to a certified genetic testing laboratory for analysis.
Personalised Report
Within 2 to 4 weeks, you will receive a digital report that outlines your nutritional needs, potential food sensitivities, and dietary traits based on your genetic profile. Your doctor will call you to explain the findings and discuss any recommended next steps.
How Long Does the NutriReady DNA Test Take?
The NutriReady DNA Test is quick and non-invasive. You can collect the test kit
directly from our clinic with no waiting time required. There is no consultation needed at the time
of collection. Simply follow the instructions provided in the kit to complete the cheek swab sample
at home.
Once your sample is returned, results are typically ready within 2 to 4 weeks. Our
doctors will contact you by phone to explain your personalised report and advise you on any
recommended next steps.
How to Prepare for the NutriReady DNA Test?
No fasting or special preparation is required before the NutriReady DNA Test. However, please take note of the following:
- Avoid eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, or chewing gum for at least 30 minutes before collecting your saliva sample.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is also recommended to consult your obstetrician to help interpret the results in the context of your current condition.
If you have any questions before your test, please contact us. Our clinic team will be happy to assist you with any instructions or concerns.
"Most people adjust their diet by trial and error, and it can take years to work out
what suits them. The NutriReady DNA Test gives you a report on how your genes affect
nutrient absorption, food tolerance, and appetite, so you know which foods and nutrients
to look at first."
