Public healthcare institutions, such as restructured hospitals, often offer more affordable options that focus on essential health assessments with standardised pricing. Polyclinics typically provide basic chronic disease screenings under national programmes like Healthier SG Screening, but they do not offer full health screening packages in the same way private providers do.

Private clinics and hospitals generally offer a wider range of packages, and prices are typically higher due to more personalised services, shorter waiting times, and access to advanced diagnostic technologies.

3. Subsidies and Insurance Coverage

Subsidies and insurance coverage can substantially lower the cost of health screenings.

Healthier SG Screening subsidies, available through participating CHAS GP clinics, offer basic screenings for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia (high cholesterol), and colorectal cancer at reduced costs for eligible Singapore Citizens.

Permanent Residents can also enrol in Healthier SG, but each CHAS GP clinic sets its own screening fee for them, so please check with your clinic.

MediSave can be used for specific health screenings and diagnostic scans in Singapore, but it is limited to certain approved procedures and medical indications. It cannot be used for full-body health screening packages or executive check-ups at private GP clinics.

You can use your MediSave for the following:

• Healthier SG Screening recommended screenings for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidaemia.
• Mammograms, for women aged 40 and above, up to $500 per year, or $700 for patients with complex chronic conditions.
• Colonoscopy screenings for patients aged 50 and above are MediSave-claimable if done as day surgery at approved institutions. You can use up to $830 per day for hospital charges and $1,120 or $1,390 depending on the type of operation.
• Outpatient MRI scans, CT scans, and other diagnostics for cancer patients, up to $600 per year, or $1,200 for patients treated for more than one primary cancer.
• Outpatient scans for diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions (non-cancer, specific medical indications), up to $600 per year.

To use MediSave for these screenings, you must undergo them at approved healthcare institutions or participating CHAS GP clinics. General health screening packages outside of these frameworks are not eligible for MediSave claims and must be paid for out-of-pocket.
